TheDaily.com – Featuring Manta 20 – October 3rd, 2011

October 21st, 2011

Osprey is a big hitter among the backpacking and camping set, and this Manta 20 daypack is like the Ferrari of running backpacks with the comfort of a Cadillac. You’ll have to be economical when packing for work with this small bag, but with four separate pockets to house all your daily needs, you’ll have more than enough room. (Leave the iPad at the office, though.) The waist belt has easily accessible pockets (phone, sunglasses, energy gels) and there’s a clip on the back for a light, if you’re running home at night. What puts the Manta at the top of its class is a 3-liter water reservoir to keep you hydrated.

BikeRumor.com – Manta 20 – July 13, 2011

July 19th, 2011

With days getting longer, its officially big bag season! That’s right folks, time to pack a lunch, extra clothing, tools, and a handful of spares for some backcountry adventure. Women’s Adventure – Featuring the Manta 20 as an Editor’s Choice Award – Summer 2010

July 23rd, 2010

On full-day or trans-alpine hikes, it’s the details that really matter. This pack delights with its attention to small features: a helmet loop, a rain cover that zips out from a hidden hatch on the bottom, a drinking valve that attaches to a magnet on the sternum strap, and “stow on the go” loops where you can jam trekking poles without skipping a beat. Women’s Adventure testers raved about the drinking valve (which pivots 180 degrees), and the wire-suspension system that keeps the packs weight away from the sweaty small of the back.

During a spring hike, one tester filled the accompanying 3-liter bladder, stuffed the main compartment with a jacket and gloves, and still had room for lunch. A top-side sunglass or electronics pocket and an organizer in the front pocket kept small items easy to find—and access—and the side pockets had enough elastic in the top edge to prevent a GPS or other small item from falling out. Hip pockets are also large enough to fit small electronics.
